What are we after?
As our name states, we are all about Diversity in Games! While the state of representation for underrepresented groups within the games industry has improved significantly within the past few years, we want to make sure that we are doing our part .
DiG is largely made up of game designers/developers studying either Art & Design: Games + Playable Media or Computer Science: Computer Game Design at UC Santa Cruz. We feel that having the desire to create games based on our personal narratives/experiences, along with having the ability/knowledge to execute them makes us stand out from the crowd.
If you take a look at the data taken from the IGDA Diversity in the Game Industry Report - June 2016 , you will see stats on the current state of diversity within the games industry. Not only will changing these numbers reshape the way the industry currently functions, but it will also allow for new games/experience to come to light that could not have been possible before!
